Directors' Biographies

Annie de Acevedo


Annie de Acevedo is a prominent and well known child and family psychologist, with 35 years of experience in schools dealing with students with LD and emotionally difficulties.  She worked at Colegio Nueva Granada as the director of Student Services, which included the Learning Centre and the counseling programme.  Annie has written 7 books on parenting, bullying and learning issues.  She has monthly column at the main national newspaper (El Tiempo) and also has a weekly advice section on National TV.  Annie is an international speaker on Learning and the Brain, Learning Problems, Parenting, Happiness and Bullying.   This year  she was awarded with the highest honor given by the Colombian government in the field of education, the Simon Bolivar Medal.


Claudia Nigrinis 


Claudia has thirty years of experience with language learners from various backgrounds. She has BA in Early Childhood Education, From Universidad de La Sabana; Post graduate studies in Special Education from Johns Hopkins, and Harvard University; A Post Bachelor Degree in Educational Leadership and a Master´s Degree in Global Education, both from Lehigh University.  Claudia has been a consultant for beginning Bilingual Schools and Summer Camps Coordinator. She worked for 25 years at Colegio Nueva Granada a as Pre Kinder, Kinder and as the Coordinator of the Inclusion and Read to Succeed Programs. Claudia taught Differentiated Instruction in the Teaching Training Institute at Universidad Colombo Americana, ÚNICA and at the Universidad Del Rosario.  She gives conferences on Educational Topics.
